CALL TO ACTION: Bring Antonio Home
Please read this appeal from our advisor Michael Mauney (aka Country) on behalf of his friend and fellow organizer Antonio Gendraw. Mail your support letters before September 1, 2020 to: Antonio Gendraw, W66526, MCI-Norfolk, P.O. Box 43, Norfolk, MA 02056
“DEAR COMRADES,
In an effort to continuously free people from these cages, I ask that you support a mentor of mine and hopefully others, in the future, buy sending support letters for up coming parole hearings.
Antonio Gendraw is scheduled to see the parole board in October of 2020. The more letters we can get he better. He has been incarcerated for going on 24 years and has seen the board twice receiving two 4 year setbacks. Please help him go home.
He is a mentor to many people including myself here at MCI- Norfolk. He has constantly displayed pro social attitudes by being a positive influence on he men younger than himself. He is a staple in the Saturday AA meetings and made it cool for younger men to seek recovery. He coaches many sports leagues and provides safe spaces with sports events to foster unity amongst younger incarcerated men. He has served in conflict resolution and facilitated Alternatives To Violence groups that has saved many young men from making poor decisions leading to violence. If you all know of anyone that could offer employment in culinary arts, conflict resolution, or working with at risk youth, please let them know Antonio is your guy. Please rally around this man in support of freedom.
In Solidarity,
Country
Attached is a sample letter to guide your writing.
Dear Massachusetts Parole Board,
I am writing in support of Antonio Gendraw, petitioner for parole. Mr. Gendraw and I have mutual friends that constantly praise him for helping them succeed in the change necessary to become successful upon reentry back into our community.
During his time incarcerated he has helped younger men realize that change is real if the necessary work is put in, in a positive manner. His positive attitude and pro social example has been nothing short of exemplary positive adjustment.
His dedication to feeding people with his gift in culinary arts and role as a big brother and/or father figure for the younger generation is a tremendous feat to achieve in the confines of a prison. His transformation is a positive example for others to obtain.
Antonio is completely remorseful for his actions which has been his motivation toward rehabilitation, therefore he is truly deserving of a second chance at life in he community. We will be there to support him in whichever capacity he needs upon release.
Thank you for your attention to my letter and content.
